The ‘Im Morgen’ retirement home is located on the outskirts of the village centre of Weiningen. The existing buildings are positioned in an offset configuration to one other, thereby creating appealing open spaces and delightful courtyards between them – these are elements that are of critical importance to residents’ sense of well-being. This is where they meet each and take part in community activities. The expansion blends in with and extends this structure. The spaces just outside of the apartments face the outdoor areas and invite residents to take a stroll or linger in the common areas.
