One with nature

The ‘Meiliwiese’ school grounds are located in the centre of the village of Hinwil and surrounded by charming green spaces. The two-storey expansion encompasses the library, media library and toy library. These rooms are also open to the public outside school hours. That factor gives the new structure a central role to play, namely as a focal point and gathering place for village residents. The new construction is a wood and concrete structure, with the slim wooden pillars of the façade establishing a connection with the surrounding trees. Meanwhile, the large courtyard brings not only light, but nature itself into the interior space.
